GEFOS (Genetic Factors of Osteoporosis Consortium)

 
 

This is the largest coalition of researchers worldwide working together in the field of genetics of osteoporosis and musculoskeletal traits. The consortium was assembled from two European Commission programs funding the GENOMOS (FP5 Action) and GEFOS (FP7 Action) projects, but has now expanded to a worldwide collaboration. The effort builds up from applying Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) approaches in a large set of epidemiological studies studying  osteoporosis traits.
