A novel class of peroxides (termed dioxolane-isoprostanes) having a bicyclic endoperoxide moiety characteristic of the isoprostanes and a dioxolane peroxide functionality in the same molecule was identified in the product mixture formed from in vitro autoxidation of cholesteryl arachidonate [1].
