High impact information on CSF1

  • It is a 44 amino acid polypeptide asymmetrically oriented in Golgi and plasma membranes which appears to modify (either directly or indirectly) the internalization and phosphorylation of at least two growth factor receptors: EGF and CSF-1 [1].
  • CSF-1 was also expressed in the extraembryonic membranes of the conceptus and in the trophoblastic cells of the fetal cotyledons after the formation of the placentomes [2].
  • Thus, CSF-1 was identified as one gene whose expression in the uterus might be altered early in response to the presence of the conceptus [2].
  • Bovine trophoblast was employed to assess the questions of whether the receptor for CSF-1 is expressed by noninvasive trophoblast and whether expression changes with differentiation within placentomes [3].
