Biological context of MYMY1

  • Our results indicate that the leptomeningeal vessels of moyamoya disease are not newly formed but are merely dilated preexisting vessels and that the structural alteration of the vascular walls suggests their adaptability for participation in the collateral circulation at the cerebral surface [18].
  • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: We have previously reported that cerebral blood flow decreased and oxygen extraction fraction and cerebral blood volume increased in pediatric patients with moyamoya disease, whereas these values did not change significantly in adult patients [19].
  • We measured cerebral perfusion at rest and in response to CO2 in eight patients with moyamoya disease (MMD), using the 133xenon inhalation method to determine the effect of large-vessel occlusive disease on vasoreactivity [20].
  • The clinical features and HLA phenotypes described in Asian monozygotic twins with MMD were not found in our patients [21].
  • CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that there may be a genetic predisposition for moyamoya disease and that host factors may play a role in the development of intimal thickening in early childhood [22].

Associations of MYMY1 with chemical compounds

Physical interactions of MYMY1

  • Kinetics of 125I-PDGF binding at 37 degrees C in cells from moyamoya disease showed fewer binding sites (less than 1/3 of controls) and lower degradation per cell than in those from controls, though no difference was observed in either internalization or degradation of each receptor [32].

Regulatory relationships of MYMY1

  • The colocalization of inflammatory cells and PCNA-positive cells suggests that inflammatory stimuli may induce proliferative response of smooth muscle and contribute to the formation of the intracranial occlusive lesions in moyamoya disease [33].
