Rab14 is involved in membrane trafficking between the Golgi complex and endosomes [1].
By immunofluorescence and immunoelectron microscopy, both endogenous as well as overexpressed Rab14 were localized to biosynthetic (rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi, and trans-Golgi network) and endosomal compartments (early endosomal vacuoles and associated vesicles) [1].
There was a wide range of different kinetic behavior, and groups of functionally linked proteins such as Rab14, nucleophosmin,and cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B could be detected from similar kinetics [2].
The observed proteins included unexpected proteins such as Sox5, two isoforms of Rab14, Rab3A, translationally controlled tumor protein, and one protein of previously unknown function [2].
Coexpression of GFP-tagged Rabs 8A or Rab14 with 4P-AS160 prevented the inhibition of GLUT4 translocation imposed by 4P-AS160 [3].

Biological context of RAB14

Both the dose- and time-dependent up-regulation of Hsp70 protein 8 and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) H1, and the down-regulation of Rab14, hnRNP C and stathmin-1 by GEN were verified by immunoblot analysis [4].

Anatomical context of RAB14

These results suggest that Rab8A and possibly Rab14 may be targets of AS160 leading to GLUT4 translocation in L6 muscle cells [3].
