Arabidopsis tonoplast proteins TIP1 and TIP2 interact with the cucumber mosaic virus 1a replication protein [1].

Expression of human AQP8 and plant Arabidopsis TIP1;1 and TIP1;2 in yeast decreased growth and survival in the presence of H(2)O(2) [2].
The deduced amino acid sequence of BOCL3 showed highest homology to the deduced amino acid sequences of several Arabidopsis thaliana genes annotated as tyrosine aminotransferase-like, including a coronatine, jasmonic acid, and salt stress-inducible gene, CORI3 (78.8% identity), and the unidentified rooty/superroot1 gene (44.8% identity) [3].
Subcellular localization of green fluorescent protein-fused AtTIPs indicated that AtTIP1;2, AtTIP2;1, and AtTIP4;1 were targeted mainly to the tonoplast and other endomembranes [4].

Biological context of TIP2

Using heterologous complementation of a urea uptake-defective yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) mutant allowed to isolate AtTIP1;1, AtTIP1;2, AtTIP2;1, and AtTIP4;1 from a cDNA library of Arabidopsis [4].
In this study we constructed a subtraction library and generated 15 salt stress-inducible ESTs from this library to use as molecular markers that reflect the cellular responses to salt stress responses in Arabidopsis [6].

Other interactions of TIP2

TIP1 and TIP2 were found to interact with the CMV 1a protein in the Sos recruitment system, whereas no interactions with the other three TIP subgroups were observed in this assay [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of TIP2

The interaction of CMV 1a with the TIP1 and TIP2 proteins was confirmed via co-immunoprecipitation assays [1].
The sequence analysis showed that 5 salt stress-inducible ESTs were identical to previously identified genes in Arabidopsis, 6 cDNAs were homologous to known genes found in plants as well as yeast, and 4 cDNAs were new genes [6].
