Disease relevance of MGAM

  • We show that the C-terminal Mynd domain of BS69 (amino acids 516-561) or the closely related Mynd domains of the Caenorhabditis elegans proteins Bra-1 and Bra-2 bind not only to E1A but also to the Epstein-Barr virus EBNA2 oncoprotein and the Myc-related cellular protein MGA [1].
  • Glioma cell lines 343 MGA, SF 126, SF 188, U 251, and U 87 had fluorescein concentrations of 72.0 +/- 6.8, 8.1 +/- 0.3, 52.6 +/- 3.1, 86.4 +/- 4.0, and 56.2 +/- 2.9 x 10(5) (mean +/- standard error) Eq Sol Mol (equivalent solution of mole), respectively [2].
  • Human astrocytoma cells (U-87 MG) exhibit a specific substance P binding site with the characteristics of an NK-1 receptor [3].
  • Of the rhabdomyosarcomas studied, 21% showed fluorescent cross-striations or fluorescent granules after incubation with MGA [4].
  • The increment in serum beta2-MG values accompanying the progression of liver disease may be an expression of augmented production rather than altered excretion [5].

High impact information on MGAM

  • These results suggest that SP receptors on the human astrocytoma cell line U-87 MG have either a biantennary complex-type or a high mannose-type of carbohydrate chain and may be regulated by GTP-binding protein(s) [3].
  • In U-87 MG cell membrane-enriched preparations, the binding of [3H][Sar9,Met(O2)11]-SP was found to be time and cell number dependent, specific, saturable, and of high affinity [3].
  • RESULTS: We developed new algorithms and a software tool 'Multiple Genome Aligner' (MGA for short) that efficiently computes multiple genome alignments of large, closely related DNA sequences [6].
  • In conclusion, the question of whether oestrogen deprivation (e.g. formestane) or addition of progesterone (MGA) has a more beneficial impact on QL needs further investigation [7].
  • It was found that muscle fibers of the MG were not stretched during counter movement; therefore, stretch reflex and potentiation of the contractile component of the MG might not contribute to the work enhancement in CMJ [8].

Biological context of MGAM

  • Median-ulnar anastomosis (Martin-Gruber anastomosis; MGA) is traditionally diagnosed based upon changes in compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude following proximal stimulation [9].
  • One clone isolated from a U-251 MG cDNA library was long, but lacked both ends [10].
  • Estrus was synchronized with either a progestin compound (MGA) or by the use of a luteolytic agent (PGF) [11].
  • In cyclic heifers, timed insemination can increase the percentage of heifers pregnant after being synchronized with MGA/PG [12].
  • Collectively, these trials do not provide strong support for a single injection of FSH, as used here, nor does it indicate a clear advantage for either MGA or PGF as a means of enhancing the ovulation rate or embryo quality [11].

Anatomical context of MGAM

  • In another subject with MGA, a clear-cut sensory response was recorded in the median nerve at the elbow by stimulating the fifth digit of the right hand but no anesthetic block was performed, because ulnar responses were absent above the elbow sulcus due to a severe lesion at the elbow [13].
  • The MGA mainly innervated muscles, which are normally supplied by the ulnar nerve [14].
  • A Colour Duplex Scan system allowed to measure the cross-sectional area (CSA) and mean blood flow (Q) in a femoral artery (FA) and a femoral vein (FV) and also in an artery supplying leg muscles (medial gastrocnemius artery, MGA) [15].
  • A review of studies on the microleakage retention, durability, and cariostatic efficacy of BIS-MGA resin fissure sealants suggests that newly-erupted permanent molars benefit least but the benefit for premolars is consistently high [16].

Associations of MGAM with chemical compounds

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of MGAM

  • One hundred thirteen soft-tissue tumors were studied by immunofluorescence using anti-smooth-muscle (SMA) and anti-skeletal-muscle antibodies (MGA) [4].
  • Vaporizer output was measured with an MGA 200 mass spectrometer and a Riken refractometer and, in addition, the pressure decrease across each vaporizer was determined simultaneously [20].
  • Synchronized pregnancy rates were 55.2, 32.4 and 15.2% for the 14-d MGA, 7-d MGA and control groups, respectively [21].
  • Importantly, direct intratumoral injection of Delta-24, but not RA55, significantly suppresses tumor growth in intracranial (U-87 MG, U-251 MG) or subcutaneous (D54 MG) animal models [22].
