Associations of Erythrocyte Indices with chemical compounds

  • An increase in the mean corpuscular volume (MCV), while not diagnostic of vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, is a valuable, readily available screening test [10].
  • The serum gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase (gamma-G.T.), aspartate transaminase (A.T.), urate, and triglyceride levels and the mean cell volume were estimated in 2034 healthy men [28].
  • After one month of desferrioxamine, serum aluminium (including the chelate) had risen from 54.6 (SEM 11.2) to 167.0 (27.5) micrograms/l; and after three months haemoglobin had risen from 8.46 (0.70) to 10.43 (0.80) g/l. Mean cell volume and mean cell haemoglobin concentration also increased significantly [29].
  • Mean corpuscular volume increased markedly in patients on zidovudine therapy not developing anemia yet remained stable or only slightly increased in those who became anemic [30].
  • The exact contribution of the interrelated factors in cystamine inhibition of sickling (changes in oxygen affinity, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, and minimum gelling concentration) has yet to be determined [31].

Gene context of Erythrocyte Indices

  • In participants with HFE mutations, the average serum transferrin saturation and ferritin levels were slightly increased, as were mean hemoglobin levels and mean corpuscular volume [32].
  • The mean cell volume of the TM delta gts1 cells in the unbudded period (single cells) was 27% smaller than that of single wild-type cells, whereas that of single TMpGTS1 cells was 48% larger [33].
  • Moreover, intracellular expression of Hst 5 resulted in a reduction in the population mean cell volume that was accompanied by an increase in the percentage of unbudded cells and C. albicans cells in the G(1) phase [34].
  • Mice homozygous for the mk mutation have a severe hypochromic, microcytic anemia that is characterized by a decreased mean-corpuscular hemoglobin concentration and balanced alpha- and beta-globin-chain synthesis [35].
  • PP14 concentration was negatively correlated with maternal haemoglobin concentration (P = 0.010), mean corpuscular volume (P = 0.003) and serum ferritin concentration (P = 0.016) [36].
