  • In a longitudinal study designed to assess the impact of a massive-dose vitamin A programme on the incidence of keratomalacia, 50 000 preschool children in 450 slum areas in Hyderabad city (India) were given 200 000 IU of vitamin A once every 6 months [34].
  • The effect of vitamin A supplementation on preschool child morbidity and mortality was assessed in a prospective double-blind placebo-controlled study around Hyderabad, India. Every six months 200,000 IU vitamin A was given to 7691 children (treatment group) whereas 8084 children received a placebo (control group) [35].
  • Nutrition studies with White Mountain Apache preschool children in 1976 and 1969 [36].
  • METHODS: Using National Immunization Survey data from 1996 through 2001, we compared vaccination coverage rates between non-Hispanic White, non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic, and Asian preschool children [37].
  • A new analytical method gas chromatography combined with UV spectrophotometry was used to measure isoprene and acetone in expired breath collected from four different groups of children: 1) healthy newborn babies, 2) healthy preschool children, 3) healthy school children, and 4) diabetic children in different metabolic states [38].
