Siccayne is a moderately active antibiotic, which inhibits Gram-positive bacteria and some fungi at concentrations of 10 approximately 50 micrograms/ml [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Siccayne

Bioassays also showed that 2- isoprenyl-5-formyl-benzofuran and siccayne inhibited mitochondrial respiration in the S. cerevisiae deletion mutant vph2Delta, lacking a vacuolar type H (+) ATPase (V-ATPase) assembly protein [2].
