Mitochondrial 27-hydroxycholesterol and 5beta-cholestane-3alpha,7alpha,12alpha,27-tetrol were virtually absent in both Cyp27(-/-) mice and CTX patients [1].
In addition to 5beta-cholestane-3alpha,7alpha,12alpha,26-tetrol, products with retention time on high pressure liquid chromatography identical with 3alpha,7alpha,12alpha-trihydroxy-5beta-cholestan-26-oic acid and cholic acid were observed [2].
