Disease relevance of protirelin

Two drugs are currently available in Japan for promoting the recovery from disturbance of consciousness after head trauma: cytidine diphosphate choline (CDP)-choline (Nicholin, Takeda Chemical Industries, Ltd., Osaka) and protirelin tartrate (Hirtonin; thyrotropinreleasing hormone (TRH) analogue, Takeda) [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of protirelin

All of them were treated with protirelin tartrate 4 mg/die i.m. The study included semiquantitative clinical evaluations of neurological examinations, with particular attention being paid to weakness and spasticity [2].
