Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of phenoxybenzamine

  • The lever-pressing rate for brain stimulation decreased under the effect of both dibenzyline, an adrenergic blocking agent, and local anesthesia of the cervical vago-sympathetic trunk by procaine [13].
  • In a randomized clinical trial, 51 patients who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy, received a prophylactic dose of Dibenzyline 10 micrograms orally 6-8 hours after operation and again the next day about 18 hours later [4].
  • Addition of an alpha-blocking agent (dibenzyline to the denervated muscle unmasked the constriction, but the percent of arterioles demonstrating thermal reactivity remained decreased [14].
  • Measurements were repeated following extensive ligation of veins and after subsequent alpha-receptor blockade with Dibenzyline [15].
  • Nine pigs underwent hepatectomy without pretreatment, while six were given 2 milligrams per kilogram of Dibenzyline prior to hepatic dissection [16].
