Purified serum retinyl beta-glucuronide was characterized by the mass spectrum of its methylated trimethylsilyl derivative, by its hydrolysis by beta-glucuronidase, and by its chromatographic behavior in high-performance liquid chromatography systems [1].
These inhibitory effects were not unique to RA since 13-cis-retinoic acid, 9-cis-retinoic acid, etretinate, all-trans etretin, and the water-soluble retinoids, retinoyl beta-glucuronide and retinyl-beta-glucuronide, also inhibited TGF-beta 1-stimulated type I collagen production.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)[2]
Retinoyl beta-glucuronide (RAG) and retinyl beta-glucuronide (ROG) inhibit prolactin-induced morphological developments in cultured mouse mammary gland, and are equally effective in depressing prolactin and steroid hormone-induced DNA synthesis in the same tissue [3].
Retinoyl beta-glucuronide and retinyl beta-glucuronide, which are naturally occurring water-soluble metabolites of vitamin A, induce the granulocytic differentiation of HL-60 cells in vitro, as evidenced by an increased reduction of nitroblue tetrazolium [4].
