Disease relevance of tRNA-Ala

Purified Escherichia coli tRNAAla and tRNALys were each converted to modified species terminating in 2'- and 3'-deoxyadenosine [1].

High impact information on tRNA-Ala

We have identified an RNA-specific adenosine deaminase (termed Tad1p/scADAT1) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae that selectively converts adenosine at position 37 of eukaryotic tRNAAla to inosine [2].
Indeed, plasmid carrying tRNA-Ala (UGU) conferred cold-sensitivity to wild-type and suppressed cut9-665 in a dominant fashion [3].
Suppression of a mitotic mutant by tRNA-Ala anticodon mutations that produce a dominant defect in late mitosis [3].
In addition, the sequence contains a tRNA-Ala gene, a tRNA-Asp gene, a Ty4 transposable element and three delta elements [4].
They are: m5C in tRNA1Gly, m1I in all tRNAAla species, polar A and U called X in tRNATyr, polar U derivative in tRNAGly2, mt6A in tRNASer1 and i6A tRNA2Ser [5].
