High impact information on TRPC4

  • The ability of thapsigargin to increase [Ca(2+)](i) could be due to depletion of Ca(2+) in the acrosome, resulting in the opening of a capacitative calcium entry channel in the plasma membrane [1].
  • By means of a RT-PCR approach, we have found that, in addition to TRPC1, only TRPC4 is expressed, both at the mRNA and protein level, as confirmed by immunoblotting and immunocytochemical analysis [2].
  • Taken together, these results show that TRPC4 protein is expressed in the bovine corneal endothelial cells and may be a negative regulator in ROC stimulated by purinergic activation, but not by store depletion itself [3].
