Disease relevance of J20

  • The cDNA clones were expressed in Escherichia coli as fusion proteins, each of which oxidized GA12 at C-20 to GA15, GA24, and the C19 compound GA9, a precursor of bioactive GAs; the C20 tricarboxylic acid compound GA25 was formed as a minor product [1].

High impact information on J20

  • The ga5 mutant also had increased levels of certain C20-GAs, which indicates existence of an additional control, possibly hydroxylation of C-20 [2].
  • The ga5 mutant had reduced levels of the C19-GAs, which indicates that the product of the GA5 gene catalyzes the elimination of C-20 at the aldehyde level [2].
  • The method detects acyl CoA esters with acyl chain lengths from C4 to C20 down to concentrations as low as 6 fmol in extracts [3].
  • The open reading frame of the A. castellanii C20 Delta8-desaturase showed similarity to other microsomal front-end desaturases, but the N-terminal domain contained a variant form of the conserved heme-binding motif in which H-P-G-G is replaced by H-P-A-G [4].
