SED4 encodes a yeast endoplasmic reticulum protein that binds Sec16p and participates in vesicle formation [1].
Sec12p, a close homologue of Sed4p, also acts early in the assembly of transport vesicles [1].
Overproduction of other ER membrane proteins, HMG-CoA reductase or Sed4 protein, does not induce such relocalization of BiP [2].
