High impact information on ILV3

Nucleotide (nt) and aa sequence analyses of the longest open reading frame (ORF) located within the cloned sequences identified them as the ILV3 gene, which codes for the yeast DAD [1].
The cloned sequences have been located to S. cerevisiae chromosome X, mapped within 0.4 centiMorgans (cM) of the ilv3 locus, and found to complement the ilv3 mutations of various yeast strains [1].
The SSP31 was mapped between the ilv3 and ura2 loci on chromosome X [2].
A gene bls1 was linked to an ilv3 gene located on the right arm of chromosome X. The resistant phenotypes from both genes were not associated with ribosomes known to be target sites of Blasticidin S, when analyzed by poly(U)-directed polyphenylalanine synthesis [3].
