A prfA gene encoding polypeptide release factor RF1 was cloned from Thermus thermophilus [1].

High impact information on prfA

Comparative phylogenetic analysis of the hemK gene and its frequent neighbor gene, prfA, which encodes a major substrate, provides evidence for several examples of lateral gene transfer [2].
We have also identified two other genes, hemA and prfA, at the beginning of the cluster [3].
Furthermore, DNA sequence analysis established that the cloned gene lay directly upstream of prfA, which encodes polypeptide chain release factor 1 [4].
