METHODS: Between 1990 and 2000, 33 pediatric patients (2 to 15 years of age) with pulmonary hydatid cysts were operated on in Department of Thoracic Surgery in Ankara University School of Medicine. There were 17 girls and 16 boys [3].
METHODS: Eleven pulmonary hydatid cysts in eight patients were drained percutaneously after 1-2 years of treatment with mebendazole (50 mg/kg/day) [4].
Overall, the test yielded positive results with sera from 55 (56%) of the 98 serologically confirmed cases, the degree of seropositivity among patients with pulmonary hydatidosis (36%) being relatively low [5].
