In the summer of 2003, chironomid imagoes eclosing from Lake Alice Bog in Minnesota yielded mermithid nematodes of 2 new species [1].
The nervous system of the mermithid nematode Romanomermis culicivorax was investigated at different developmental stages for the distribution of the neuropeptide FMRF-amide [2].
Two control trials were conducted against Ae.samoanus larvae in Pandanus, one using a sand culture of the parasitic nematode Romanomermis culicivorax and the other with temephos, an organophosphate insecticide [3].
Univoltine Aedes mosquito larvae infected by Romanomermis sp. were found at 2 localities in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Aedes nevadensis, Ae. impiger, Ae. pullatus and Ae. punctor were the predominant host species [4].
The efficacy of the parasitic nematode Romanomermis culcivorax in controlling anopheline larvae, including malaria vectors, was studied in Fars and Baluchistan provinces [5].
