Protein kinases: getting NEKed for S6K activation.

The 70/85 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase is regulated through the concerted actions of multiple phosphatases and kinases. A newly identified S6 kinase kinase, NEK6, appears to provide the penultimate activation step.[1]
