Homoeologic aberrations in human and chimpanzee Y chromosomes: inverted and satellited Y chromosomes.

An inverted and a satellited Y chromosome detected in peripheral blood lymphocytes of a chimpanzee and a pygmy chimpanzee, respectively, were characterized cytogenetically by various banding techniques. A detailed comparison with an inverted and a satellited Y chromosome in man suggested that the corresponding aberrations were homoeologic.[1]
