A specific chemoreceptor to the linguo-hypoglossal chemoreflex of the frog.

Fungiform papillae in the frog tongue were found to contain chemoreceptors which respond phasically to quinine hydrochloride. The reflex discharge of the hypoglossal nerve on chemical stimulation of the tongue may originate from the excitation of these chemoreceptors.[1]
