Immunology of the eye and the joint.

It is well known that polyarticular joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, HLA-B27-associated arthritis and Borreliosis can be associated with eye diseases, such as uveitis, scleritis and keratitis. However, the mechanisms underlying the involvement of these tissues remain unclear. A recent meeting examined the immunoregulation of the eye and the joint in an attempt to determine their similarities and differences.[1]
