Disease relevance of TET2

 

  • Analogous to TET1, an enzyme that converts 5-methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) in DNA.
  • TET2 is frequently mutated in myeloproliferative disorders (MPD), i.e., Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), Polycythemia vera (PV), Essential thrombocytosis (ET) and Myelofibrosis (MF).
  • TET2 is frequently mutated in myelodysplastic syndromes.
