Disease relevance of UL40

High impact information on UL40

  • This mutant virus, designated RR1CAT/RR2lacZ, was engineered so that coding sequences of the genes UL39 and UL40 specifying the subunits of the viral ribonucleotide reductase were replaced by the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) and the lacZ gene coding sequences, respectively [4].
  • The VP2 open reading frame was inserted at the locus of the small subunit of ribonucleotide reductase gene (HSV-1 UL40 homolog) without any exogenous promoter in vHVT001 and at the locus of gl gene (HSV-1 US7 homolog) under the control of the human cytomegalovirus immediate-early promoter in vHVT002 [5].
