In addition to the analyses of dopa oxidase activity and total melanin, pheomelanin production in the cells was assessed by high-performance liquid chromatography determinations of pheomelanin degradation products, 3-aminotyrosine and 4-amino-3-hydroxyphenylalanine [1].
Using ion-pair and/or cation-exchange high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection, we found that the liver cytosolic proteins of these animals contained 0.1-1.5 mol of 3-aminotyrosine/10(3) mol of tyrosine [2].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of 3-Aminotyrosine

The sample is injected directly into a reversed-phase HPLC column and NTYR is subsequently reduced by a platinum column to 3-aminotyrosine, which is quantified with an electrochemical detector [3].
