Disease relevance of transposase

Based on their structures and the sequences of the inverted terminal repeats and the putative transposase protein, the insertion elements (IS elements) are similar to IST2 of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and several related elements [1].

High impact information on transposase

In particular, the predicted amino-acid sequence of the transposase from IS1166 is 86% identical to that from the known transposable element IS6120 [2].
