Avoiding the high cost of a strike.
Matthew Goodfellow's article on strategies for avoiding disturbances in labor relations follow on the heels of an injunction won by the American Hospital Association this April. It had sued the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to halt implementation of new rules concerning health care union bargaining units. The NLRB proposed rules that would have established eight collective bargaining units in acute care hospitals. As this dispute works its way through the legal channels, FAHS Review will report in-depth. But here, now, is sound advice from an individual and his institution's research in the often delicate art of managing highly skilled, well educated medical professionals.[1]References
