Anatomical context of Pancreas, Artificial

  • Optimal blood glucose control for 5 +/- 2 days using an external artificial pancreas led to a rapid normalisation of membrane marker values and mitogen responsiveness of lymphocytes from previously poorly controlled diabetics [12].
  • The large differences in properties among membranes made with different chemical formulations suggest that glucose-sensitive membranes with performance characteristics needed for an artificial pancreas may be an achievable goal [13].
  • The artificial pancreas produced a stable glycemic baseline before surgery, prevented hypoglycemia during palpation of the pancreas and manipulation of the tumor, and indirectly amplified small decreases in the blood sugar level with large increases in the rate of dextrose infusion [14].
  • A copolymer of N-isopropylacrylamide (98 mol% in feed) and acrylic acid, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (P(NIPAAm-co-AAc)), was prepared by free radical polymerization for development of a thermally reversible polymer to entrap islets of Langerhans for a refillable biohybrid artificial pancreas [15].
