In the present study, we investigated which brain regions are activated by the odor of hexenol/hexenal using positron emission tomography with alert monkeys [1].
These findings suggest that the increase of rCBF in the anterior cingulate gyrus by the odor of hexenol/hexenal may contribute the healing effects of this mixture observed in the monkey [1].
The estimated K(m)-values vary between 0.18 mM for the sorbic alcohol and 6.3 mM for butanol and show no dependence upon the chain length [2].
