In addition, the NbsB marker is genetically and phenotypically similar to the rfaD locus of Salmonella typhimurium [1].

Mutations which resulted in the truncation of the residues following 3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonic acid, such as the rfaE and rfaD mutations, decreased the transfer frequency to undetectable levels [2].
This DNA includes yibB, which is an open reading frame of unknown function, and two promoters upstream of rfaD (P3, a heat-shock promoter, and P2) [3].
