  • We discovered that ANKRA2, the closest paralogue of RFXANK, can substitute for RFXANK in the activation of MHC-II genes and that this ability is mediated by its ankyrin repeat domain (ARD) [1].
  • In addition to sequence conservation, functional conservation exists, as mouse and Xenopus RFX-B orthologues, but not the paralogous protein ANKRA2, were able to complement the MHC II deficiency in a BLS-patient-derived cell line deficient in RFX-B [2].
