Inhibition of cathepsin activities by vitamin B6 derivatives.

We found that pridoxal phosphate ( PLP), a coenzyme form of vitamin B6, inhibited the activity of cathepsins B, K, S and L in vitro. Cathepsins activities in cultured splenocytes were suppressed by the addition of pridoxal (PL) or pridoxine (PI) in to the culture medium. A newly synthesized artificial vitamin B6 derivative, a pridoxal propionate derivative, CLIK-164, showed selective inhibition of cathepsin O/K.[1]
