Choanal atresia and athelia: methimazole teratogenicity or a new syndrome?

An infant girl with choanal atresia, athelia, minor anomalies, and mild to moderate mental retardation was born to a woman treated for hyperthyroidism throughout pregnancy with methimazole and propranolol. The patient's defects may be due to methimazole teratogenicity or could represent a previously undescribed syndrome affecting ectodermal structures.[1]
