Hormonal and hemodynamic profile of an anaphylactic reaction in man.

A 28-year-old female undergoing elective total hip replacement experienced an anaphylactic reaction to succinylcholine. Hemodynamics, plasma histamine and catecholamines were measured. The tachycardia experienced during the reaction appeared to be secondary to the sympathoadrenal response rather than a direct chronotropic effect of histamine.[1]
