Insect calcium channels. Molecular cloning of an alpha 1-subunit from housefly (Musca domestica) muscle.

The complete amino acid sequence of an invertebrate calcium channel alpha 1-subunit from housefly (Musca domestica) larvae (designated Mdl alpha 1) has been deduced by cDNA cloning and sequence analysis. Mdl alpha 1 shares higher percent sequence identity with 1,4-dihydropyridine (DHP)-sensitive L-type than with DHP-insensitive calcium channels. As shown by whole mount in situ hybridization and immunostaining Mdl alpha 1 is predominantly expressed in the larval body wall musculature.[1]
