Disease relevance of Idd2

Active stage of autoimmune diabetes is associated with the expression of a novel cytokine, IGIF, which is located near Idd2 [1].

High impact information on Idd2

The IGIF gene position is located within the Idd2 interval on mouse chromosome 9 and therefore it is a candidate for the Idd2 susceptible gene [1].
However, the identities and functions of the remaining diabetes loci (Idd2-Idd19 in NOD mice) are largely undefined [2].
Diabetogenic NOD-derived alleles at Idd2 (Chr 9), Idd3 (Chr 3), and Idd10 (Chr 3) were segregating in the BC1 [3].
Severe insulitis and concomitant high diabetes incidences occurred in all genotypic classes of congenic mice carrying Thy-1/Apoa-1 linkage markers for either NOD or NON alleles at Idd-2 [4].
