Disease relevance of SENP6

  • Staphylococcal surface proteins (herein referred to as SSP-1 and SSP-2) are involved in the attachment of Staphylococcus epidermidis 354 to polystyrene [1].
  • Genes related to chondrocyte hypertrophy and dedifferentiation such as SSP1 and DCN were downregulated in chondrons as compared to the expression in chondrocytes [2].
  • Twenty-one healthy subjects and 56 RP patients were studied: 7 had primary RP, 22 had suspected secondary Raynaud's syndrome (susp RS), and 27 had systemic sclerosis (SSc)-associated secondary Raynaud's syndrome (SSc RS) [3].
  • Clinical features and hearing recovery were compared between three types of perilymphatic fistula groups; surgically confirmed (PLF-conf, n = 16), suspected (PLF-susp, n = 24) and traumatic (trauma-PLF, n = 11) [4].
  • Weight gain was significant (72.5 +/- 13 kg Pre3; 73.4 +/- 13 kg Susp; 74 +/- 12.9 kg Pos3, P < .0001) and serum creatinine (SCr) decreased (1.70 +/- 0.49 mg/dL Pre3; 1.63 + 0.49 Susp; 1.58 +/- 0.48 Pos3, P < .0001) [5].

High impact information on SENP6

  • These results suggest that SUSP1 may play a role in the regulation of SUMO-1-mediated cellular processes particularly related to reproduction [6].
  • Like yeast Ulp1, SUSP1 is a cysteine protease containing the well conserved His/Asp/Cys catalytic triad [6].
  • Interestingly, reproductive organs, such as testis, ovary, and prostate, contained much higher amounts of SUSP1 mRNA than colon and peripheral blood leukocyte, whereas other tissues, such as heart and spleen, had little or none [6].
  • In addition, confocal microscopy using green fluorescent protein.SUSP1 fusion showed that SUSP1 is exclusively localized to the cytoplasm of NIH3T3 and HeLa cells [6].
  • IBSP and SSP1 were used as anchors for the orthologous region on human chromosome 4 [7].

Associations of SENP6 with chemical compounds

  • In attempts to improve upon these results we identified a subgroup of patients with consistently elevated bilirubin levels who did not meet conventional criteria for VOD (Susp VOD) but who had a significant risk of later developing clinical VOD [8].
  • Tacrolimus doses and levels were recorded during 3 outpatient visits before omeprazole withdrawal (Pre3/Pre2/Pre1), at the withdrawal visit (Susp), and at 3 visits after withdrawal (Pos1/Pos2/Pos3) [5].
  • Patients with primary RP and susp RS had normal blood flow values at ambient temperatures of 40 degrees C, 12 degrees C, and after rewarming to 40 degrees C when compared with controls, but they had significantly faster vasoconstrictor responses to whole-body cooling, suggesting a heightened sympathetic activity [3].

Regulatory relationships of SENP6

  • SSP-1 expression is down-regulated in a phenotypical variant of S. epidermidis 354 whereas SSP-2 expression is not [1].

Other interactions of SENP6

  • Furthermore, in vitro proteolytic cleavage of SSP-1 produces an SSP-2-like protein which coincides with a loss of adhesive function [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of SENP6

  • Repair of seven cystoscopes during the SSP1 period cost $11,500 [9].
  • Stigma-specific proteins associated with the S(1) allele and the S(2) allele have been identified using isoelectric focusing and these proteins have been designated SSP1 (Stigma S-associated Protein 1) and SSP2 [10].
