However the activity of carboxypeptidase B upon the substrate hippuryl-L-arginine was not enhanced by this toxin [2].
Arginine carboxypeptidase activity in human serum, measured with the hippuryl-L-arginine substrate, is about three times higher than in human plasma [3].
Zinc analysis revealed 0.96 gram atoms of zinc per mole of enzyme, and a Km of 65 +/- 3 muM was determined for hydrolysis of hippuryl-L-arginine [4].
