Quantitative trait linkage analysis suggested that two loci that have major quantitative effects are located on chromosome 1 near Adprp and Acrg, respectively [1].
To determine the molecular basis of this phenotype, we initiated a positional cloning of the Acrg minimal region [2].
The human gene maps to chromosome 2q34-q36, and the mouse gene is localized to the syntenic region of chromosome 1 (between markers Gls and Acrg) [3].
The maximum size of the Spr deletion is estimated to be 16 cM, the genetic distance between Tp1 and Acrg [4].
The closest distal marker to the deletion is the Acrg gene, with the distal deletion breakpoint mapping within the 0.8-cM segment separating Akp-3 and Acrg [4].

Ren-1,2 and Acrg were included as two proximal mouse chromosome 1 anchor loci [5].
