Carbon dioxide (CO(2)) is detected in adults by a special class of olfactory receptor neurons, expressing the gustatory receptor Gr21a [1].
We show that Gr21a and Gr63a together are sufficient for olfactory CO2-chemosensation in Drosophila [2].
