Disease relevance of repA1

It has been found that during replication in Escherichia coli polA(-) host, oriS was the only active origin of a mutant pCU1 derivative bearing a mutation in the gene encoding replication initiation protein RepA [1].
In the REP region, a gene encoding the putative replication initiation protein RepA has been identified, with the highest similarity to the replication protein of plasmid pALC1 (Paracoccus alcaliphilus) [2].
