Chromatography of the chromone and flavonoid alkaloids.

TLC methods have been derived for the qualitative investigation of the small group of compounds known as chromone and flavonoid alkaloids. Quantitation of two of the chromone alkaloids has been achieved by HPLC and a graphite column has been used to separate the unstable stereoisomers of the piperidone chromone alkaloids. A variety of preparative methods, including silica column and droplet counter-current chromatography, has been used to isolate the members of this group of compounds from plant extracts.[1]
