Sequence of a Rhodococcus gene encoding a protein with extensive homology to the mammalian propionyl-CoA carboxylase beta chain.

Sequence analysis of a 2-kilobase DNA fragment from Rhodococcus sp. NI86/21 revealed an open reading frame encoding a 476-amino-acid protein with striking homology to the rat and human propionyl-CoA carboxylase beta subunits. The nucleotide sequence of a corresponding prokaryotic gene has not yet been reported. Upstream, the C-terminal part of a putative beta-ketoacyl synthase was identified.[1]
