Molecules that modify antigen recognition.

MHC class II molecules assemble in the presence of invariant chains. These probably serve not only to protect the peptide-binding site on MHC class II molecules from endogenous peptides, but also to sort MHC class II molecules from the Golgi complex to endosomes and there to retain the class II polypeptides to allow binding of peptides generated from exogenous antigens.[1]
