TSH regulation of ferritin H chain messenger RNA levels in the rat thyroids.

Ferritin heavy chain mRNA steady state levels are increased by thyrotropin both in vivo and in two independent thyroid derived permanent cell lines. Maximum induction was achieved 48 hours after thyrotropin addition in the same conditions in which all the thyroid differentiated functions were stimulated. Thyrotropin stimulation of the levels of ferritin heavy chain mRNA seems to be mediated by cyclic AMP since it mimics the hormone induction.[1]
