Clinical safety of corneal storage media.

A study of the bacteriological safety of McCarey-Kaufman (M-K) media was undertaken. Twenty-five consecutive cultures of M-K media with a standard penicillin-streptomycin additive were performed at the time of keratoplasty. All cultures were negative, confirming the clinical safety of this media.[1]
